intelligent CFD offers services in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for Wind Engineering and Heat Transfer applications required by architects, civil engineers and project developers of wind farms and solar power plants. To solve such environmental flow problems accurately, I use a high-fidelity CFD-method known as Large-Eddy Simulation (LES) in combination with Synthetic Eddy Methods (SEM) to model turbulence in the Atmospheric Boundary Layer (ABL) and models to account for Radiative Heat Transfer (RHT). Moreover, I use novel AI methods such as Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) to speed up parameter studies and design optimization.
Services
My services specialize in the following wind engineering applications:
Wind comfort in urban areas
Wind loads on buildings
Wind site assessment
Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
Expertise
I have expertise in LES for environmental flows, Synthetic Eddy Methods (SEM) to model turbulence in the ABL, wind data analysis, heat transfer simulations and structural dynamics. Furthermore, I have advanced knowledge in statistics, machine learning and cloud computing.

About me
I’m Juan Felipe Vásquez Arango the founder of intelligent CFD. I studied mechanical engineering at Berlin University of Technology (TUB) and I did my PhD in Computational Wind Engineering (CWE) at RWTH Aachen University. I teach CFD at Berlin University of Applied Sciences (BHT) and I have over 12 years of work experience in different companies and institutions, amongst others, at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) where I worked as scientist for 9 years. Before that I worked for 3 years in the automotive industry on several research projects performing flow simulation.
